The Algonquin Quilters' Guild meets on the fourth Thursday of each month (third Thursday in November) at the Congregational Church of Algonquin, 109 Washington St., Algonquin. Meeting times are 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and include quilt demonstrations, block-of-the-month raffles, monthly Show and Tell, charity quilts for community organizations, monthly quilt bees, annual quilt retreat, and Christmas party and gift exchange. The guild currently has approximately 35 members, and prospective new members are welcome to attend one free meeting. Annual membership dues are $19. Piecemakers Quilt Guild has 54 members who pay $10 a year in dues. We meet at 7pm on the third Thursday of each month except December at the First Church of the Nazerene in Galesburg. We have a bi-monthly row robin, monthly block lottery, monthly programs featuring local quilt teachers and shop owners, and sponsor frequent Saturday workshops. And of course, we have show and tell! Future projects include offering some basic and beginning quilting classes to the community; participation in the local civil war reenactment this summer; researching and choosing a charity or charities to support; a day trip to Rockhome Gardens in Arcola this June or July; and creation of a guild logo. Only a year old, our guild is a happy, friendly group.

The Heartland Quilter's Guild is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of quilts and the art of quilting, the attainment of public recognition for quilting and for quilts as an art form, and the advancement of the state of the art through continuing education services for members, public education activities, and professional and artisan development programs. We share ideas, hear interesting speakers, learn new techniques, participate in group projects, sponsor a quilt show every other year, hold various retreats and workshops, make new friends, and publish a monthly newsletter. Our evening meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ located on the corner of 6th and Penning, Wood River, Illinois. Our day meetings are the last Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the same location. Annual dues are $12.00 per year, due in July. Everyone is welcome! Member of NQA Chapter 361, IL 12.
